Medical Support Programme

Our service starts before the crew set sail. Our medical team captures details of the crew’s medical history in a purpose-built, fully secured platform to enable us to assess any potential risks and provide personalised advice to ensure the crew’s welfare is optimised.

After all, prevention is better than cure!

By identifying existing health conditions at the outset, crew members can be assessed by CLCA Maritime’s specialist medical team who will help identify and mitigate any potential risks.

Our clients include:

– Shipping companies
– P&I Clubs
– Assistance companies
– Crewing agencies
– Major insurers

Previous medical information and details of current medication are also extremely valuable should a crew member suffer an illness or accident on board.

CLCA Maritime will provide access to a bespoke online form which crew members or their medical examiners/doctor can complete remotely.

The data may include:

  • Emergency contact information
  • Previous medical history
  • Medication – dosage and frequency
  • Blood type, allergies and other useful information

All medical data is stored in a dedicated, secure, GDPR compliant cloud server.

CLCA Maritime’s in-house medical team review each form and highlight any potential issues, working directly with crewing teams to ensure any medical conditions are managed appropriately by:

  • Giving recommendations on how best to manage existing conditions
  • Advising crew members of the importance of taking sufficient medications for their time at sea
  • Recommending care to mitigate the risks of illness or injury linked to any long-term medical conditions

Should a crew member have an issue, we can share our data with appropriate medical teams and professionals to assist with diagnosis and/or treatment.
